It was October 2018 when a reputed company of Waterloo, Kraus Carpet LP, filed for Bankruptcy. Ninety percent got laid off. Amongst those who received layoff notices was Roshan Shah, who worked there as a Business Analyst/Project Manager.
Roshan had a prior entrepreneurial background and didn’t wait long to register the company. He registered Cogdina Inc the very next day of the announcement. There was a dilemma in the family whether Roshan should pickup any Web Developer, BA, PM job in Kitchener or start a Waterloo-based Web Design and Development company.
Many opportunities came knocking on the door, and the good ones required Roshan to move to Toronto or Ottawa. Roshan went ahead and got in the final stage of a Sr. Technical Architect with excellent remuneration and benefits offered at Ottawa. With kids in high school, they convinced Roshan to remain in Waterloo, and he finally decided to stay back and not accept the Ottawa offer.
In January 2019, Cogdina got its first customer, which involved Ruby on Rails application maintenance service for a Manitoba-based client. Roshan helped in stabilizing a real estate lead management system and wrote many parser routines. In March 2019, Cogdina inked a second Ruby on Rails consulting contract with Fintech Connector. Here too, Roshan had to take over outsourcing relationships and provide technology consulting and staffing services to New-York based fintech community social network.
Roshan also picked up a year-long large WordPress Upgrade project of a leading Toronto based Non-Profit association. It had a complicated WordPress and .NET integration. The WordPress version was very old, and the site was not responsive. Cogdina Inc partnered up with the India team to meet the Client’s budget requirements while Cogdina provided technology and delivery management. We were able to offer affordable web design services from Waterloo. After ten months of rigorous development and testing, the site was delivered with an upgrade to the latest WordPress. Cogdina team made the site fully responsive, optimized, and mobile-ready. This was a 2000 man-hours project. Cogdina team used asana and Slack for project communication and task management.
With impressive success in website design and proven outsourcing partnerships, Cogdina Inc expanded its WordPress development. Today, it has completed more than five complex WordPress projects with referencable North American customers.
In 2020, Cogdina expanded its offerings by offering Drupal Development, Drupal Support, Django Development, Django Support, iPhone Development and iPhone Support services in Kitchener-Waterloo. Starting December 2019, the Cogdina team has been building teenagerstartups.com and teenivo.com using Django, React, Rest API, Postgres, AWS stack with over 70 percent automated test coverage. Cogdina has also built capabilities with Selenium Testing.
