Fortune 500 client achieves accessibility compliance.

| Case Studies |

A Fortune 500 client with companies operating worldwide, has achieved website accessibility compliance with the help of Cogdina Inc. for their products and technologies that strive to address global needs and challenges such as hunger, climate change, sustainability, environmental burdens, and effective use of resources.

Problem Overview

The client’s website did not meet the accessibility requirements set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), leaving many users – including those with certain disabilities – unable to fully experience and utilize the website. As a business that is committed towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the company was required to accommodate individuals of all abilities, not just at its industrial locations, but also as part of its digital presence.

The Challenge

Cogdina conducted a thorough audit of the client’s website, assessing it based on key accessibility principles such as comprehensibility and operability. Cogdina observing website page by page and identifying issues that hindered the users with disabilities to access the site.

Our Process

Cogdina mapped out a comprehensive strategy to address all compliance issues. Cogdina made every element on the site accessible via a keyboard and added text labels to all form fields, allowing screen readers to transcribe them effortlessly. We also delivered a detailed website accessibility checklist for future compliance tracking.

A 23 year old visually disabled girl tested the website to find issues on the front end using JAWS and Android Screen Readers. We used windows file search to identify jpg, css, png, pdf, mp4, mp3, avi etc files in the entire WordPress folder and created inventory. We verified the latest WordPress usage, identified unwanted extra plugins, themes. We also did basic check on site configuration with best practices. We followed the ADA website accessibility standards and guidelines, thoroughly.

Tools and Results

Both Cogdina and the client consider the project to be a success (as well as an exciting challenge). That’s why we still work helping him shape the product to this day.

By the end of the three-month period, we had earned our client a certification of ADA compliance and accessibility requirements. To ensure that the site continues to remain in compliance, we work with the client on a monthly basis to perform security and performance updates as well as make any technical updates they need.

On this project, we used several top-notch tools, such as:
Bootstrap
React JS
AWS
Gitlab
CI/CD
Automated Tests
Selenium Tests

We always choose tools with active communities behind, because this facilitates development, maintenance, and security of projects.
